Returning to a familiar place when they open up in your city is always a fun experience. North Italia in the Kierland Commons in Scottsdale is one of my favorite places to eat (I really love Scottsdale if you’re looking for an escape in the desert). Dallas now has one of what will be two locations. The Plano location opened in Legacy West to a very warm welcome from the city (literally as Texas is scorching hot right now). Another one is coming downtown in Fall 2019 for those who don’t love the commute north but Legacy West has a great selection of boutiques and eateries (hello Sprinkles) if you do decide to make the drive.
Cocktails: By summer’s end, I might have tried them all. I started with the Strawberry Spice Mule. Not only was it photogenic but it was also smooth! You have about a dozen craft cocktails to choose from in addition to the wine list and if you so choose, go for the pitcher instead of the glass.
They have several menus but I went for dinner, as I wanted to try the gluten free pasta options. The Chicken Pesto pasta is just the right blend of pesto, basil and pine nuts. I am only recently eating gluten free and can say this didn’t make me feel like I was missing anything. When our meals came, I truly wouldn’t have known mine was any different from those I dined with. I didn’t ask but I am guessing maybe my bowl was a different color to help the waiter.
Notes: Make a reservation. This is not the place to go on a whim. I had a 1.5 wait for a “first available” table and not only is there no wifi, your connection is will be weak even if you’re trying to use your data. I thought I would be multitasking with 90 minutes of wait time but nope; it was a prehistoric experience with no access to the outside world. If that doesn’t sound like a millennial, I don’t know what does. Judge away.
