Traveling through the airport is difficult at best between getting through security without tossing anything out or keeping track of your luggage. Avoiding the TSA pat down is one common goal travelers of all ages share.
A few simple things to keep in mind if you’re planning an end of summer trip:
- Avoid bangles or heavy jewelry. It’s a pain to take off and it almost always goes off no matter what country I’m in.
- Choose your shoes wisely. I love Birkenstocks but I noticed pretty early on, they always went off and I had to go back barefoot and be subjected to a pat down. I love my Isabel Marant shearling moccasins in the winter. In the summer, I wear sandals without metal.
- Comfortable pants. I am notorious for breezing through the airport in a jumpsuit or romper. They are no fuss. But I also wear pants with elastic waistbands if I am actually wearing pants.
The obvious reminders are that scarves, jackets, and hats all have to be removed so be mindful when you’re wearing them as accessories or otherwise. I need all of them depending on where I’m going but I can quickly remove them or put them back on once I’ve made it through security.
