Pizza originated in Southern Italy, Naples to specific (if you love food… go and it will change your life). I won’t write any eye brow raising commentary on where to find the best pizza because everyone has their preferences but I was looking for extremely delicious Neapolitan pizza in Dallas. On a Friday night, I ended up at Cane Rosso and was not disappointed.
They have different menus for each location across Texas (Dallas, Austin, and Houston) so if you’re going expect to see some differences.
For starters, I went with Mozzarella Fritta because growing up is a trap and sometimes adults just want to be a kid. When they say, “Everything is bigger in Texas,” you can add Cane Rosso’s fried mozzarella into that category..
Aptly named, the Friday Night Frankie was ideal for a night of eating everything you ever wanted as a kid. This pizza is not for the faint of heart because the candied jalapenos are a little hot, okay really hot. I was scarfing down pizza like I had never eaten a day in my life meanwhile others were gulping water like they were in the Sahara Dessert.
The Spiked Sangria had zero to do with what I was eating and everything to do with what was in it. This summer I have been drinking everything spicy and this fell right into that category. It was a great blend of your fruity sangria with just the perfect note of spice. Our table might have had several of these… for tasting and getting a great picture of course.
I couldn’t help but laugh at the Pizza of the Month…
