Dry and frigid air is somewhat synonymous with winter. Add in travel and the rampant viruses going around, and you have one complicated skincare battle on your hands. I went from wearing a mini skirt in Florence in November to rain, sleet, and snow in Brussels at the end of December. Toss in a few trains and planes, bronchitis turned into pneumonia too. My skin was completely devastating.
Any combination of these things is tough but with patience, I largely avoided completely freaking out. The first thing I can say, as with all trips I packed my standard skincare routines so while abroad my skin didn’t feel depleted.
When I returned home to find out I was sick, I was put on antibiotics drying my skin out further. There wasn’t any magical topical ointment to combat this but lots of water, honey and tea did help attack it from the inside out.
Being completely exhausted and wiped out, I was not up for a six-step routine. How do you keep up a skincare routine in the middle of winter when you’re down? Switch the products! I picked up La Roche Posay products in Spain and those are the two power players in my routine at the moment. The particular Lipikar lotion is now available in the states and helps with Eczema or dry skin in general. I also use micellar wipes and oils too.
