My skincare routine is not a secret. I rarely wear makeup and for that reason, I tend to be strict with following a regimen that works. Traveling (and work-related stress) can wreak havoc on my skin which seems to be the case lately.
I’m going to share a three-part series over the next few weeks that reveals a little bit more about how my skin can go from flawless to a complete shit show in a matter of hours (three-hour flight). I was in D.C. for work and at the start of the week, my skin was perfectly normal. Planes contain dry air and germs… lots of germs. I knew to pack my regular routine and a mask for recovery.
Even with an arsenal of products, I started to develop painful pimples along my chin. I’ve known since high school that picking a pimple only makes the situation worse. I made it through the week without touching my face unnecessarily but on my return flight, I was dealing with one emergency after another (storms… potential flight cancellations), and I spent three hours attacking the giant mountain that grew throughout the week.
My eating habits are also a bit of a problem. My gastroenterologist would likely say a big problem. Being lactose intolerant and gluten intolerant (among other things) and eating the way I do isn’t helping my breakouts. By the time I went to Turks & Caicos a week later, my face was unbelievably scarred from breakouts. I still refused to wear makeup or hide it so the scars are visible.
In my next post in this series I will share exactly how I’m combatting these pimples and the ugly scars they leave behind.
